Our History

Duchy Home Farm has a rich heritage rooted in both the land and the legacy of the Duchy of Cornwall. Acquired by His Majesty the King in 1985, the farm spans just over 1,000 acres and is managed by the first tenant farmer Henry-James Gay who is proud to continue the tradition of responsible stewardship of this historic land.

Our family’s heritage in British farming dates back to 1525 when we became tenants on a farm in Somerset under the Duchy of Cornwall. This long-standing relationship with the Duchy has shaped our organic and sustainable farming philosophy, blending traditional farming values with modern sustainability initiatives.
